We offer evening workshops all year. Our workshops are designed for the working adult and take place in the evening from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm. Workshops can be a good mini-intensive into the Feldenkrais Method by different topics. Each workshop takes place over three hours featuring two to three different Awareness Through Movement lessons from the Feldenkrais Method. Our annual programming covers every part of the body, the most common aches and pains, and special integrations like Feldenkrais & Yoga or Feldenkrais & Qigong.
Pain-Free & Healthy Back
Tuesday Nov 12th
Back pain is a serious problem that can prevent us from living a full and satisfying life.
If you experience back pains or want to prevent this common malady the Feldenkrais Method has much to offer. Even if you have been diagnosed with muscle strain or spasms, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, facet joint dysfunction, spondylolisthesis or sciatica you can become pain free without relying on invasive procedures.
The secrets lie in a steadfast practice and routines that unload your spine, relax excessive muscle tension and spasms, improve strength and flexibility of the key postural muscles and most importantly alter your habitual posture and movement patterns.
Join our Clinical Director Marek Wyszynski, PT, GCFP for this restorative back-care workshop.
Reduce Holiday Stress
Wednesday Nov 20th
We all know what stress leads to – emotional upset, physical pain or illness, and lowered effectiveness. Prepare for the holidays by reducing stress and increasing comfort in your body.
Holidays are social times, when our attention is turned outward towards how we are seen by others. This takes energy, and often conveys something different than what we feel. It can be hard to identify our discomforts, pressures, distorted postures, and the emotions embodied within them when we are living contradictions - projecting an image and yet ignoring ourselves. In this workshop we will explore how and where we create stress, develop new more effective habits, reduce strain, and relax from head to back to feet.
Join us for natural healing from stress, injury, or inefficient body use. And enjoy the holidays more!
How to Improve Posture
Wednesday Dec 4th
We often try to achieve good posture by “holding” our torso, shoulders, head, neck or abdomen in a particular way. But good posture has nothing to do with the way we hold ourselves. From a Feldenkrais® perspective, good posture is simply one of the many rewards of knowing how to sense, feel and refine our own physical organization.
This empowering three-hour workshop with Staff Practitioner Mark Hirschfield, features innovative Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® exercises to enhance your posture, balance, comfort and sense of well-being. By giving your brain and body a chance to experience a better way of being organized, you’ll be on your way to developing better postural patterns.
Join us to:
Identify your postural tendencies, and learn how to improve them
Learn to activate your back so staying upright feels magically effortless
Experience your posture as flexible, dynamic and supportive
